Lately, I’ve been writing a lot of fiction. It’s always been a true love of mine. There’s just something about the act of creating something from nothing that appeals to me.
Here’s my latest, a piece I wrote for a competition:
Love Scenes From the Belvoir Cathedral
It was super fun to write. If you have a moment, give it a read and a like. Your support can help it win the contest!
The narrative structure of that particular piece isn’t classical. It’s a series of vignettes, but it does weave a tale—one of the rise and fall of a Cathedral and what it represents in our society. Let me know what you think in the comments here!
I’m also working on my novel, and it follows a more classical narrative structure, as do many of my short stories. There are some tried and true methods for consistently building promise and payoff.
If you’re a fiction writer (or an aspiring fiction writer) you might enjoy this piece I’ve written on using story structures to write your short fiction:
Four Short Story Structures for Weaving Impactful Tales
It’s complete with helpful diagrams. Here’s a teaser below:
If you find it useful, make sure to bookmark it to come back to later, when you’re writing.

I hope all is well! As always, feel free to say hi in the comments or reach out on social media. I truly love hearing from you all!
